It is intended for intermediate and advanced levels. This course covers intermediate to advanced level information on ocular anatomy and is presented online through Eye-Courses.com.

After completing this course the student should be able to do the following:

• Identify the bones that make up the orbit
• Define the size of the orbit and eyeball
• List the intrinsic and extrinsic muscles of the eye
• Identify the innervations and function of the extrinsic eye muscles
• Describe the eyelids structures and their functions
• Identify the lacrimal system parts and their functions
• Identify the drainage system and its parts
• List the layers of the cornea and a fact about each one
• Describe the anterior chamber and aqueous flow
• Describe the anatomy of the lens
• Describe the anatomy of the uvea including the iris, cilliary body, and choroid
• Identify the vitreous composition
• Understand how the retina functions and the importance of the retinal pigment epithelium
• Describe some common problems affecting the following:
• • Eyelids
  • Lacrimal and drainage systems
  • Conjunctival
  • Cornea
  • Anterior chamber
  • Uveal tract
  • Macula
  • Optic nerve

This course should take approximately 1 hour to complete.

This course has been approved by the AOA Commission on Paraoptometric Certification (CPC) for continuing education credit for use toward paraoptometric certification renewal.
